Covering the top is a good solution, but I've found that it's better when tested with a soldered heat bed rather than using a molex connector. My molex burnt out, so I resorted to soldering cables directly to the heat bed, and I'm not thrilled about the unsightly space they occupy - my cover nicely hid this issue.
