Anet A8 - LCD Enclosure
thingiverse
This is an enclosure for the stock Anet A8 LCD screen, designed to allow mounting the LCD off of the frame and attaching it to the outside of an enclosure box or any other preferred location. The enclosure offers 2 options for side parts: a plain base that allows the enclosure to rest on a surface and another option with M3 mounting holes for securing the enclosure to a surface. Additionally, you can attach this LCD enclosure to the stock Anet spool holder by printing the necessary parts. Be sure to check out my [Anet Stock Spool Holder Bowden Coupler](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2881723). When deciding on the distance between the LCD and the main board, it's recommended to use a longer ribbon cable. The Anet LCD uses a 10-pin ribbon cable that can be easily found at places like AliExpress or Amazon. You can purchase a replacement cable from https://www.amazon.ca/Uxcell-Connector-Ribbon-Cable-Female/dp/B01IS1N5KY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1525270505&sr=8-3&keywords=10+pin+ribbon+cable. I spent considerable time designing and testing this enclosure. If you decide to print it, I'd love to see how people use the enclosure by posting a make. To enhance the appearance of the LCD enclosure, consider filling in the hole left by the LCD with something like https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2169055, although this is purely cosmetic and up to individual preference. The following tasks remain: 1. Create an assembly guide. 2. Once the Anet LCD fits and works properly, develop a variant for the RepRap LCD2004 display and other commonly used LCD displays. 3. Investigate ways to minimize filament usage while maintaining strength.
