This idea and Inkscape plugin from "Anet A8 3D Printer Laser Engraver Mod" of Crasimir Stefanov at http://lokspace.eu/anet-a8-3d-printer-laser-engraver-mod/ The holder is mounted on the FAN1 place. The laser module - 33x33x50, 12V with power up to 2.5W (currently under testing). The laser power supply comes from FAN1 (note that the plus and minus pin of the laser module are reversed compared with the fan connector's pinout). FAN1 gets its power from FAN2 for smoke blowing. Two more M3 20mm nuts and bolts are required for Fan1, as well as four M3 x 5mm for laser mounting. Offset Y is set to 45, X -20 (the plugin accepts positive numbers, so X is 20mm from the origin point; the head code in the laser.py module may be replaced). February 23, 2017: fan M3 nut holders were added.
