thingiverse
This is a straightforward adapter that enables you to attach a 5mm male connector quick fitting on top of a j-head style extruder for a Bowden setup. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Anet A8 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 Layer Height Infill: 25% Lines Notes: You'll get the best results printing this in ABS, which is a denser/softer plastic and less prone to cracking. Post-Printing On the left side you have an old threaded nozzle throat, on the right a 5mm male thread pneumatic quick fitting. Parts and installation instructions.... Print the adapter. Screw the male end of the quick fitting into the smaller hole on your printed adapter. Make sure it's screwed far enough in that it's flush with the face of the adapter. Screw your printed adapter onto the threaded throat WITH THE PTFE LINER REMOVED. Use the bigger hole in the adapter. It doesn't need to go more than a few turns to be secure. Screw the threaded throat end into the top of your j-head. That's it! The adapter has no threads, but that didn't appear to be an issue when screwing the threaded throat or quick fitting in. Just keep it straight as you screw it in, and you're good to go. If you do have trouble with the threaded throat, I used a pair of needle-nose pliers to keep it steady. As long as you keep it straight, filament will feed smoothly through the entire setup. Screw the quick fitting in until it's flush. Use needle-nose pliers to keep the threaded throat steady. It looks like junk, but who cares? It works. I suppose you could use a shorter threaded tube, but it's not crucial. How I Designed This I designed this using 123D Design, and CURA as my slicer.
