Matsekberg devised an innovative plan to remove Y-axis belt tension from the front frame panel by incorporating threaded rods on each side of the belt, similar to X-belt tension transferred to carriage rods. This eliminates the need for extensive frame bracing. I viewed this concept as a supplement to existing frame braces rather than a replacement, so I took it further: refining the parts and merging them with existing frame braces. The result is a streamlined system that aligns perfectly and fits snugly on my printer. Initial issues arose due to Anet's off-center hole placements in some parts; however, this system functions flawlessly when paired with a properly manufactured frame. The belt tensioner now accommodates 8.5mm x 13mm aluminum idler pulleys with 16 and 20 tooth counts, requiring an M3*18 screw for each pulley. In cases where the slicer fails to correctly print recesses in the idler tension arm, applying heat from a candle melts the nut and bolt head, resolving potential interference issues. I have iterated on this design numerous times since its initial release; download the latest version before printing to ensure optimal results. To assemble the system, use a three-foot long 1/4" zinc-plated threaded rod, available at most hardware stores. A metric equivalent is one meter of 6mm diameter rod. Additionally, you'll need four corresponding nuts and two washers for this build. Cut the short side to 30.5cm and the longer side to 34.5cm. The total material cost comes out to be approximately $4.
