ANET A8 FAN & Rear 12mm Sensor Mount

ANET A8 FAN & Rear 12mm Sensor Mount

It has been frustrating for me that the sensor was placed in front of the extruder, primarily due to its proximity to the nozzle and the obstruction it causes to the hot end's view. After examining the situation, I came up with a practical solution. However, this modification will only work effectively with 12mm sensors. This mount is designed for use without the heat sink. My tests at 235°C nozzle and 95°C bed temperatures have shown that the lower part of the extruder holding the nozzle throat remains cool as long as the fan is running. Besides making it easier to access the extruder, this modification will also reduce its mass. You will need two M3 x 25mm screws to mount the part to the extruder motor. I used spare parts from the printer. The endstop x-axis arm must also be printed and mounted as shown in the pictures. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Edit Configuration.h in Marlin as follows: Offsets for a 12mm sensor: - X_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER -21 // X offset: -left +right [of the nozzle] - Y_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER 22 // Y offset: -front +behind [the nozzle] and - LEFT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 15 - RIGHT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 205 - FRONT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 17 - BACK_PROBE_BED_POSITION 206 also due to the x-axis endstop arm modify - X_MIN_POS -11 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Note: Always make sure to retighten the two screws now and then since the filament material will deform over time and the extruder motor will become loose!
