I made this modification to simplify access to the extruder, allowing easy clearing of jams. It also greatly facilitates loading flexible filament by providing a clear view into the extruder gear and heatbreak opening. With this modification, you can easily slide the extruder fan in and out without needing any tools. ***~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*** This modification involves cutting down the extruder heatsink. In my opinion, the increased airflow more than makes up for this, allowing the extruder to run at least as cool as it does stock. However, be aware that all modifications are made at your own risk!
