This carriage is designed to: - Replace the original carriage with maximum compatibility, allowing only the fan duct to be replaced while retaining all other original parts - Provide similar nozzle positioning, eliminating the need for firmware changes when upgrading from the original A8 - Offer a platform for any direct drive design you want to implement on your Anet A8 I designed this carriage for several reasons: - To enable the use of upgraded extruder designs like the MK8 (available on Amazon) in direct drive setups on the Anet A8, which was previously impossible due to the original carriage's limitations - This includes the ability to use lever-based designs, eliminating the need to modify or cut the carriage Tested upgrades compatible with this carriage include: - Improved linear chain to extruder for Anet A8 (available on Thingiverse) - Anet A8 X Belt holder and tensioner (available on Thingiverse) - Anet A8 bed level holder with 12mm inductive sensor (available on Thingiverse) Additional parts needed for the upgrade: Chain fan interface: - 2 M4x10 screws Fan bracket: - 2 M3x20 screws - 2 M3 nuts Fan: - 2 M4x25 screws - 2 M4 nuts - 2-4 M4 washers
