Anet A8 A6 X Axis Belt Tensioner (No Z Axis Pressure)

thingiverse

I am absolutely fed up with the various solutions I've tried from Thingiverse for X axis belt tension on my A8. It's been a constant source of frustration since day one with this printer. Now that I'm done venting, I'd like to introduce an entirely new design that takes the belt tension's pressure off the Z axis's right carriage completely and doesn't rely on forcing itself against anything to provide continuous tension. Here's what you'll need: * 2 of these prints * 1 x 3mm bore GT2 pulley (16T or 20T) (https://amzn.to/2Sr45OD) * 1 x M3x20 screw (https://amzn.to/2XMIDtn) * 2 x M3x12 screws (see M3x20 link) * 3 x M3 Nylock or hex nuts (https://amzn.to/2XLiCdM) This design was made to hold a toothed pulley, but I'm sure you could also use the flanged bearings that came with your printer. Print two and attach them to the X axis rails near the right Z axis mount. Using your fingers, push against the vertical frame piece (not the z carriage) to apply tension to the belt, then tighten into place. Before you ask, yes, you will sacrifice a small amount of travel on the X axis (this piece is 18mm wide), but it should still be able to reach the entire bed. Your mileage may vary depending on any mods you've made to your printer.
