They sell lower kits for muscle cars, so why not standard A8 a-frame spool holders? Once you add a spindle centering enhancement, the original a-frame works well, but it needs serious lowering to fit inside a 22 cm high dry box. I'm designing my dry box with an internal maximum height of 22 cm and need to make the most of the existing components. This design contains two spindle lowering brackets and two replacement cross pieces that wrap over the lower corners of the a-pieces. Mark and drill holes for the cross pieces as desired, then reuse the original mounting hardware. For the top ends of the lowering brackets, use an extra pair of simple nuts and bolts from your random hardware stash. The outcome is a low-profile spool that barely clears its floor without hitting the frame.
