Anet A8 40x40x20 Extruder Fan Mod
thingiverse
I swapped out the blower fan that came with my Anet A8 for the 40mm fan attached to the stepper. I didn't want to get too complicated, so I built the 40mm adapter found on Thingiverse by ChineseStar. Next, I ordered a better fan (40x40x20 Akasa), which has better airflow than the original 40x40x10 and is very quiet (27 db). I decided to fix all the small problems that came with the original design. My piece was slightly tilted after printing due to poor air flow, so a small part in front broke off. It's easy to remove if necessary. I made several changes to improve the original design based on my personal preferences: 1. The original design tended to break at the extruder whistle connection point, so I added extra reinforcement. 2. The height of the extruder whistle was incorrect for Anet A8, so I adjusted it. 3. Originally, I had to use duct tape to direct airflow; now I've added walls to prevent air pressure loss. 4. My design is compatible with the original blower screws. 5. With a 20mm tall fan, the top screw was inaccessible, so I narrowed the hole and placed the screw in the opposite direction to keep it from rotating. 6. I also narrowed all the threads so they can fit M3 screws.
