Anet A8 2040 V-Slot X Assembly
cults3d
UPDATE 2017-05-26: I neglected to give dimensions for the 2040 extrusion: 475mm if you use the printed tensioner 490mm if you use the metal tensioner assembly These are minimum lengths. A 500mm piece from OpenBuilds would work fine as-is for both. I've uploaded pics and spec drawing of a metal tensioner assembly. It takes 20-30mm off the total width of the printer. My prototype in the photos is shorter than the drawing because the 2040 beam was already cut. You'll need: Qty1 20x60x5mm Aluminum or steel stock - those dimensions can be fiddled a bit Qty1 eccentric spacer Qty1 idler pulley of your choice, with 5mm bore. The one in the photos is 20T. Qty1 5mm ID, 7mm OD shim Qty1 5mm washer or another shim Qty1 M5x25mm screw Qty2 M5 nuts Qty2 M5x10mm screws Qty2 M5 Tee nuts The Anet's stock X rail assembly just isn't rigid enough to support a direct extruder. I found Gavin's excellent 20x20 conversion, but already had a pile of OpenBuild 2040 V-Slot on hand, so I adapted. You'll need his X-Carriage_Belt_Tensioner. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2088574 The Z limit switch mount is half of Kureigu's endstop Thing: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1443052 If you're keeping the stock extruder and hotend, you'll need a metal bracket for proper heat dissipation. The simplest solution uses OpenBuild's gantry plate and standard wheels, and drill the stock extruder bracket to fit the gantry plate. You'll need Qty 1: OB 80x20 gantry plate Qty 4: OB wheel kits Screw sets to attach the Anet extruder bracket to the gantry plate The Belt Clamp and Belt Clamp Plate Things. The Clamp Thing includes parts for both left and right side attachment, but you only need one. Or: The included gantry plate STL is designed to use a common steel right-angle NEMA17 bracket with the stock extruder parts. You'll need: Qty 4: OpenBuild mini wheel kits Qty 1: This bracket (they're available everywhere, pick your vendor): https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01HHPD7LY Qty1: 22mm 3x0.50mm screw Qty2: 25mm 3x0.50mm screws The FanMountPlate and FanMountBase Things to mount the part fan The X rails and lead screws are spaced 17mm center to center. This conversion should work on some Tronxy P802x models and any Prusa i3 clone with the same 17mm spacing. The Bowden conversion in the photos is a separate remix, which I'll publish eventually
