I'm experimenting with a DIY anemometer that measures wind direction without using a steel bearing. Instead, I'm employing a plastic airsoft ball with a 6mm diameter to create the bearing. To my surprise, even in light winds, this setup works flawlessly! To assemble the anemometer, you can utilize an 8mm diameter bar or screw. For a visual guide on how to insert the ball into place, I recommend checking out the accompanying picture.
