Andy Warhol's Signature

What does it mean for the value of art when anyone can make a perfect copy? Let's explore this idea with the recent recovery of works by Andy Warhol on Amiga disks. The screenshots of 300x200 resolution images allow pixel-perfect reproductions of his work. I've taken a portion of one of these works and created a 3D printable sculpture of Andy Warhol's signature. You can find more details here: http://designmaketeach.com/2014/05/02/3d-printing-andy-warhol/ Please leave a comment or contact me on Twitter @DesignMakeTeach or on Facebook at Facebook.com/DesignMakeTeach. I enjoy discussing 3D printing, STEM, and Learning by Making with teachers, designers, and makers. Campbell's, 1985 by Andy Warhol was used as a visual reference for this piece. Campbell's, 1985 is a digital image from disk, found at http://studioforcreativeinquiry.org/events/warhol-discovery. It is part of the collection at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, and it was contributed to the museum by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. The copyright is owned by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. / Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York, 2014.
