André Chénier Muse (1888), Denys Pieere Puech's work (1854-1918), Marble, Musée du Luxembourg, Paris, The Royal Cast Collection (Copenhagen, Denmark) created with Memento Beta from Autodesk. The sculptor envisioned a poignant scene: the death of poet André Chénier, guillotined on July 25, 1794. "As the chopper struck, a white form materialized at the foot of the guillotine." A woman's figure took shape, her body that of a virgin. She grasped the head with black hair in her hands. Then, she sat down, resting the long hair on her chest. With a gentle touch, she placed the dear head on her lap, kissing it on the forehead as she whispered: "Sleep well, dear poet; your muse will watch over your memory."
