Android Cupcake - Fun Storage Box (3 pieces)
thingiverse
This was a rapid development project that I put together for two primary reasons: Firstly, I have a new printer and I wanted to design something entirely on my own. Secondly, it has been nearly fourteen years since I last modeled anything and I had never laid hands on Blender until now, so I needed something to practice with. Moreover, my son is fond of the Android mascot, making this project a fun way to spend time with him. The item is divided into three sections to facilitate multi-material printing. The Android character is traditionally depicted in green, but for the sample, I simply used the filaments that were readily available. No supports should be necessary anywhere. I have also included all three parts as a single file, which may be what you need. The candle fits snugly into the top with a slight push, and mine held firmly enough to allow me to pick up the Android figurine by it. The cupcake case is hollow to accommodate secret storage. My test piece is likely only suitable for tiny trinkets (toy rings? dice?), but scaling up would enable larger or more complex items (a money box?). With further experience in Blender, I might have added a screw top, but this will suffice for now. As someone new to 3D printing and uploading my first Thing, I appreciate any suggestions for improvement, tips on printing, etc. Please share pictures if you create this; I would love to see your results (as would my son).
