This modern bronze sculpture shows the mother's unromanticized half-figure cradling the infant in one arm, while her other arm rests lightly on his back. The baby's head leans against his mother's shoulder as she holds him close. Located centrally along a small path stands a plinth purchased by the Friends of Children of Great Ormond Street Hospital to honor Andrew Meller, who passed away in 2001. Patricia Finch created this memorial, an artist renowned for her statue of a girl resting with flip-flops in Golders Hill Park.
