The lower half of a statue of St. Andrew has been unearthed by excavations in 2014. It's likely this statue stood above the main entrance of Vredenburg Castle, located in Utrecht. The red color on the statue is known as "bolus," which serves as an undercoat for painting. This statue was probably completely gilded.
