sketchfab
The skull of an Andean condor (Vultur gryphus, USNM 346633) undergoes CT scanning on Ohio University's MicroCT scanner (OUµCT), a key component of doctoral research led by WitmerLab student JP Nassif. The segmented skull, brain endocast, and other structures are visualized in Amira by visiting University of Tokyo student Seishiro Tada. Accessible online through MorphoSource (http://bit.ly/2WWoLhW), the microCT scan data, a 3D-printed skull STL, and a brain endocast STL can be downloaded. A detailed movie of this Andean condor's skull and brain endocast—with labeled brain structures—is available on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/Pci4J7OTgOg. Collaborating with the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History Division of Birds, this research is funded by the National Science Foundation.
