And Another Dial Indicator Holder For Replicator 2
thingiverse
Another iteration of the dial indicator holder has been designed. I was determined to improve upon the existing model and made several key changes. 1. The new design features a simple bore for the stem, which is essential for preventing pinching of the spindle. Stems are intended to be placed in hardened steel bores or collets to ensure proper alignment. 2. A rear bracket has been added to support the lug back dial indicator, allowing for limited height adjustment through slotted mounting points. 3. Three magnets are used to maintain the holder's levelness, captured from above to prevent them from being pulled out onto the linear rail. The magnets press into tapered pockets for easy installation and secure positioning. 3a. These tapered pockets provide a snug fit, ensuring the magnets remain in place throughout their lifespan. 4. The design accommodates variances in rail-to-rail spacing without requiring separate versions for specific tolerances. This flexibility makes it easier to work with different setups. 5. Increased beam strength is achieved through the design's optimized geometry, minimizing deflection and ensuring accurate measurements. Specifications: a. This dial indicator holder supports a 0.375" diameter shank, specifically designed for use with Shars 303-3112 Lug Back indicators in inches. b. Three magnets are used, each with a .250" diameter and .125" thickness to provide reliable holding power. c. The design requires a 1/4-20 or M6 cap screw, washers, and nut for secure assembly and attachment.
