The typological characteristics of this anchor; pointed crown, straight arms and acute angle, triangular equilateral nails and square section of the shaft below the arganeo fit into the known pattern called Almirantazgo type (Old Admiralty Longshank), a standardized model used to equip English warships from mid-16th century until late 18th century, and early 19th century. Production was usually handled by specialized blacksmiths who heated iron and forged it forming separately the shaft, arms and nails, then hammering them together to finally place the wooden shank.
