The tabletop features a masterful combination of Giallo Antico Marble expertly bordered by the distinctive colors of Porfido Rosso and Bianco Antico frame. To create this exquisite piece, skilled artisans meticulously cut thin slabs of Giallo Antico marble, then carefully rebuild and follow the natural veins to craft an open match design that preserves the original pattern of the stone. This unique modus operandi, characteristic of 15th/16th century craftsmanship, was employed to minimize waste and conserve as much ancient marble as possible. During the Campaign of archeology launched in this era, rare and precious specimens were unearthed, which made it imperative for artisans to optimize the utilization of these irreplaceable treasures.
