Here's a 1,400 year old ancient Chinese dice recreation. Creating this representation brings back the excitement of playing a game lost to time. According to the latest discoveries: This reconstructed ancient game consists of 14-sided die carved out of an animal tooth and rectangular numbered pieces for a potential liubo, or "bo", which is a short name mostly associated with board games in China around 1,500 years ago. Liubo was mentioned in a 2,200-year-old poem by Song Yu, suggesting a game played similar to this ancient one found by researchers over the years. This new discovery provides more clues on how liubo pieces may be made. What catches attention in this reconstructed die is its unique shape. On twelve sides are marked from 1 through 6 using zhuan-shu, or "seal script," a script formally used all across China during the Qin dynasty. Researchers now face an additional mystery as two faces on both sides of this ancient die were completely empty, without any signs or markings at all, including Chinese letters or other characters.
