This artefact is part of the MUSE collection, it was discovered in  the Gaban site together with many other cultural artefacts dating back to the Mesolithic and Bronze age. The site is situated in a small valley on the hedge of the Adige Valley. The site was prehistorically very active, this information can be retrieved thanks to its numerous substrate findings. The reason for that, was the extremely convenient position of the site which granted optimal weather conditions all year round, even during the cold winters in Trentino. The archaeological work on site begun in 1970 having Bernardo Bagolini as director. The work still continues to this day and artefacts have been found throughout the whole surface of the site, extended from the highest to the lowest point of the ground. This ancient millstone is a great example of the social changes interesting the civilizations that developed around the Mesolithic. This and other artefacts that were found, are fundamental to give us a better understanding of the social, cultural and economic practises in Trentino region. Other cultural artefacts discovered include musical instruments  built from bone remains, seashells, deer or ibex rests, various female representations and many examples of pottery.
