Ancient Egyptian Game: Senet

The rules governing this game are largely hypothetical - and one day we may stumble upon the concealed rulebook that reveals how it was actually played during its existence over 3000 years ago. Until then, we'll have to be content with experimenting with these miniature replicas and continue to reverse engineer this once-ubiquitous game. On that note, has anyone ever employed a 3D scanner on most of the known 80-something boards that have survived and examined for 'wear spots' on the spaces to determine which ones were most frequently occupied by pieces during gameplay? I wager it would shed more light on our current interpretation of how the game was played. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any evidence online that showed this kind of research.
