Cylinder seals are meticulously recreated in actual size using meshes derived from point clouds obtained from this location.\n\nThese seals can be used on clay, modeling clay, plasticine, or play dough among other materials.\n\nFor each seal in the collection, I provide a mesh of the original seal and two additional meshes with increased relief, resulting in less realistic designs but potentially more visually appealing when pressed into materials. Additionally, a mesh representing the simulated unrolling of the seal is included.\n\nThe scripts used to generate these from point clouds can be found in the seals and scripts folders here. Notably, my modded version of nxedit is utilized to extract text point data from Nexus files (nxedit filename.nxs -x). Various tools are employed including MeshLab for point cloud conversion to STL format with automated scripting, python scripts operating on point clouds and meshes (unrolling point clouds and generating solid slabs from one-sided open meshes), and OpenSCAD for automated labeling and rendering.\n\nPrinting is facilitated without supports required. Nevertheless, some STL files may necessitate repairs before printing can commence.\n\nCopyright Notice: The original point clouds were licensed under CC-BY-NC-SA-3.0/DE. However, the original seal has been in the public domain for millennia, and I believe a 3D scan does not add copyright. Nevertheless, European law may differ, so a CC-BY-NC-SA notice is included to avoid potential issues. Since I am not claiming any copyright on transformations made to the point cloud, these files are freely available without restriction.
