The party is pushing forward, cutting a swath through the massive horde of Roper, when several of these creatures suddenly turn their attention to something emerging from the opposite end of the cavern. Many of the Roper fall silent, desperately attempting to blend in with their surroundings by utilizing their stony camouflage abilities. The wizard quickly realizes what has terrified the Roper and casts a veil of invisibility, urging the rest of the party to remain silent as they attempt to sneak past this new threat. The ancient orb comes into view, its multiple eye stalks darting in every direction as it snarls and glares at the party. Slowly but surely, the orb's attention shifts, its eye stalks locking onto the invisible party members with an unblinking stare. A deafening, demonic shriek echoes through the cavern as several of the eye stalks glow and flash. The wizard and a few Roper notice that their veil has been dispelled, prompting them to prepare for the impending assault from this ancient beholder. Meanwhile, the barbarian is already charging forward, battleaxe in hand, ready to take on the floating mass of eyes. Roll for initiative.
