Anchor Rope Winder v2
thingiverse
I created a device to wind up 1/8-inch nylon rope on my canoe anchor.\r\n\r\nPrint one Cord Winder and two Handles. Assemble with stainless hardware, leaving space for the handles to spin freely. I used epoxy to secure the handle bolts into the body.\r\n\r\nVersion 2!\r\nI sharpened the "points" to make winding easier. \r\nI moved a Handle to the middle for effortless winding around the center axis. \r\nI added a small hole opposite the center Handle for feeding out the back end of the rope.\r\n\r\nThis allows easy attachment, preventing accidental loss of your anchor and winder. Imagine if you have the anchor down and the winder at the bottom of the boat. You unfasten the anchor line (attached in the center of the rope at the desired depth) and start pulling up the rope with your hands as the boat drifts. However, your hands slip and lose their grip. The anchor drops, and you're now in much deeper water. The line tightens against the cord winder, which goes overboard. It's not designed to "self-unwind," and it's too heavy to float the anchor.\r\n\r\nIf the winder is connected to something in the boat via the anchor line through that hole, the winder can't move. It also won't be in the way since it's perfectly aligned with the winding axis.
