The National Archaeological Museum of Florence burst forth into existence in 1870 with King Victor Emmanuel II making a grand appearance at the inauguration ceremony held within the historic walls of the Cenacolo di Fuligno on via Faenza's storied streets. Initially, this esteemed institution showcased an impressive collection of Etruscan and Roman relics that had been carefully curated over time. However, as the collections continued to expand exponentially, it soon became apparent that a new and more spacious location was urgently needed, leading to the museum's triumphant transfer in 1880 to its current and majestic edifice.
