An E3D Chimera Bracket for Ooznest Prusa i3
thingiverse
UPDATE: This design has been revised to incorporate layer fans so you can print with PLA, and see it here http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:857270 for the upgrade. I received an email Friday that they had shipped my Chimera hot-end so I realized I needed to create a bracket right away that would fit perfectly on my ooznest prusa i3. This new design was inspired by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:661185 and it includes cable-tie holes on either side of the bracket as well as two tails to enhance air flow round the back. So, I created Chimera-high. Additionally, I moved the mounting holes on the x-carriage upwards (x-car-high). Then, I read through the docs again and found that the four grub screws should be accessible, even if it's not easy with a fan first... But from the back would be easier even if I lose some print height. That is when Chimera-std was born and I went back to using the standard x-carriage. Today, I saw http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:643799 and liked it so much that I adapted the x-carriage with a similar belt grip which brought about the creation of chimera-ext and x-car ext. All modifications were done in Blender and I have included the blends for all three designs, but personally, I'm going with Chimera-ext though it is still being fine-tuned - not for long now that I have my Chimera today. Instructions I use Cura for 3D printing: Layer Height is set at .20mm, Shell Thickness at 0.80mm, Top/Bottom thickness of .60mm, Fill Density of 25%, Print speed of 55mm/s and no supports are necessary.
