With a resounding crash, my front linear bearing alerted me to an impending problem with its inner rubber seal. To add stability, I secured these Y carriage support brackets on either side of the Y carriage rib to the bearing using M3 nuts and bolts. They grip slightly, but are designed to allow for some movement if forced. The design profile is a modified version from my Ormerod2, taken directly from the bearings that bear the weight. For printing purposes, I use Slic3r 1.1.7 and drive a stationary drill bit through the holes as recommended by Reprap experts. This arrangement fits snugly on both the Ormerod1 with its bolt pointing forward and the Ormerod2 with the bolt facing backward, though I have only installed it thus far on my Ormerod1 printer model.
