AMS Spool Adapter
prusaprinters

A spool adapter for use with the Bambu Lab AMS. Creates a lip so the filament doesn't rub on the filament feeder and also changes the contact width of the spool so that the spool does not rub on the roller bearings and instead on the roller itself.

Best practice is to measure the diameter of the spool ["spoolDiameter"] (round up to nearest mm) and the width of the spool ["tooWide"] and change the parameters in the Fusion360 file manually. The model should update to a proper sized spool adapter for your desired spool.

I can add files based off of community requested spool adapters. I will need the spool diameter and width to do so. The included adapter is for the Amazon Basics brand of spools which are 199mm in diameter and 77mm wide, which is just about as wide as you can fit in the AMS.

You will need to print out enough of the adapters to completely cover the spool and superglue them to the outer lip of the spool. I recommend printing out in ¼ spool parts to fit more in the build area. In combination with my AMS roller riser, most spools should fit now. I would also suggest using the PTFE adapter to help with guiding the oversized filament spool.
