AMPS pattern cell-phone mount for 2006 Infiniti G35

This is the base for a cell mount for a 2006 Infiniti G35. It installs without permanent modification in the ashtray. It's very close to a 12V socket in the console, to connect a charger.

This is just a generic base, designed to accept a mounting plate using the industry-standard AMPS 2-hole pattern. Compatible mounts are made by Quad Lock, RAM Mounts, and probably many others.

Two #10-32 square nuts (3/8" flats) are embedded inside the print. It will accept #10-32 flat-head machine screws up to 1" long.

I built up a nice Quad Lock mount on mine, with a wireless charging head on top. Quad Lock stuff is a bit pricey, but it's top-tier.

Print instructions

Print with the mounting surface down. No supports are required.

The recesses for the embedded nuts use the Maniacal Labs floating-hole hack, which depends on the specific layer height. The model is currently designed for a 0.2mm layer height. If you want to use a different layer height, you'll have to modify the Fusion 360 model (change the LayerHeight user parameter.)

Insert a pause at the start of the layer that covers over the embedded nut recesses. That's your chance to insert the square nuts during printing. Use a machine screw as a tool to help press the nuts in straight.
