Somerset Heritage Centre brings an amphora to the Glass Box, giving students from local schools a chance to scan objects as part of the BBC Civilisations festival. This unique container's shape and size have been characteristic since at least the Neolithic Period. Used in massive quantities for transporting and storing various products, both liquid and dry, but mostly wine, amphorae have played a vital role throughout history.
