The amphibious structure sinks its pillars into a lacustrine or fluvial basin and rises above the surface, providing a dual environmental function. Its branching shape offers underwater shelter to freshwater organisms, fish, and amphibians – including the endangered shovel-nosed keeled lizard – and a base for algae growth; while its upper section, isolated from shoreline threats, provides protection and strategic visibility for river birds, such as the fisherman bird.
