Among Us Crewmates - WalRit/jdbrassell remix
thingiverse
Uses 4mm x 2mm cylindrical magnets. FYI - this is based on both https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4693828 and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4661083. I can only credit one as a remix unfortunately. See this for a collection of magnetic hats: https://www.thingiverse.com/ururk/collections/among-us-magnetic-hats I really liked the models from: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4661083 but wanted magnets to hold everything together (including hats): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4693828 and yet still these models weren't exactly what I was looking for... 1) I wanted swappable visors 2) Smaller magnet holes (jdbrassell's holes were a bit too big) So what started out as a simple project - just take jdbrassell's files and add a new magnet location to the visor ended up taking a lot more time and effort. 1) Redrew the guts. While not totally necessary (side note, the editing tool I chose was Fusion 360) I used lofts to get them as close as possible to the original - remeshing produced lower-quality shapes, and they were killing my app performance. Used the OBJ files as a starting reference, and jdbrassell's for magnet locations. Mainly to add a "floor" for the bone to sit in, but later to improve the seating technique. 2) Redrew the visor - if you take a look at the original files it doesn't fit perfectly in the rim. I don't know if this was intentional or not, as the gap is not even. The gap between the rim and body has a similar problem, but for the moment I left it alone. If I redraw the body, then I'll fix this as well. There is a middle seam visible in OpenSCAD, but when it prints it looks fine, so as long as you aren't printing this 2000% in size, you should be good. 2) Reworked the seating mechanism for the guts. OK, this was a stupid thing and I could have let it go, but I wanted a positive fit when I push the guts into the body. Printing the others, the guts rocked side to side and could be rotated a bit. 3) Tweaked the locking ring, made it a single piece, called "Aligner". Be sure to print it in the right orientation - 4) Made an OpenSCAD file so you can customize the magnet sizes and locations. Unfortunately I haven't tested the output stl files. I'm marking this as a thing in progress, as I may redraw the body and bone to fit with my theme of making everything from lofts :D, and may tweak the visor one more time.
