Origin On 11 December 2020 on Reddit Redditor star-platinum posted the first known meme referring to the 2018 Among Us video game, which gained viral popularity during the fall of 2020, as "Amogus". The post received more than 680 upvotes. On January 16, 2021, Redditor Lewdvik posted a one-panel edit of a cartoon by webcomic artists StoneToss, replacing one of the people in the comic with a white Among Us teammate and changing the line of dialogue to a single word, "amogus." The post received more than 4,600 upvotes on the /r/ antifastonetoss subreddit within a month.
