Echioceras represents a now-extinct group of ammonites that thrived during the Early Jurassic era in both Europe and North America. The shells of these species can grow to a diameter of approximately 4-6 centimeters (1.6-2.4 inches). Characterized by their narrow, broad evolute shell design, Echioceras species feature fine ribs on inner whorls that gradually become stronger, straighter, and more distinct with each progression.
