Ammonite Asteroceras
myminifactory
Large Jurassic ammonite specimen found, but its exact locality remains unknown. Asteroceras, a genus of cephalopod now extinct, falls within the Ammonite subclass. These swift and agile carnivores were nektonic predators that thrived during the Triassic and Jurassic eras, spanning from 205.6 to 189.6 million years ago. The digital model was captured using an Artec spider scanner and processed through Artec studio 12 software. However, due to limited accessibility, the underside of the ammonite's base had to be sealed off to make it watertight. This scanned object is part of Fossils in Shropshire's collection.
