Amiga 1200 OLED Gotek USB disk drive emulator base - Floppy Buttons
thingiverse
This remix relocates the Gotek control buttons to the original Amiga 1200 Floppy Eject button opening. It requires no modifications to the A1200 case, but does necessitate a hardware modification to the Gotek emulator. **A Crucial Note: This only functions with a hardware modified Gotek. You must un-solder the pushbutton switches from the top of the Gotek PCB and re-solder them to the bottom of the PCB.** This design is based on Lemaru's remix, which itself is derived from the original CrazyBob design. This particular version has been optimized for the 0.91" OLED screen. I could also create a variant tailored specifically for the original 7-segment LED display if that would be beneficial. The OLED display is securely held in place by a small retainer plate, which slides into position, thus eliminating the need for any adhesive. This makes it effortless to remove the display when necessary. Note: The images showcase my initial prototype test print (incomplete, only from the USB jack onward). Although its buttons functioned correctly, they were situated too closely to the bottom of the 'eject' button opening on the Amiga and didn't always allow the buttons to release, so I've moved them up 1mm in the current STL file. **This is a Work-in-Progress Project**. I will likely create other variants and attach them as separate STL files... *** ++Updated STL to v1.1++ with a small nub at the buttons to enable better contact with the buttons. It may require filing down for optimal performance with the buttons.*** I'm currently working on a newer design that could potentially eliminate this step. *** ++Updated STLs to v1.2++ - A superior button design, but it necessitates printing the buttons separately 'sideways' and attaching them in place.*** I am also developing a version that fully covers the floppy slot for a sleek appearance. *Note: This was printed in Blue filament simply because that's what I currently have loaded in my printer, and it looks great in the photos. You'll probably prefer to print it in white or off-white color to better match the Amiga.*
