thingiverse
3D scan of a juvenile American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) created by the [Natural History Museum of Vienna](https://www.nhm-wien.ac.at/en) under license [CC Attribution-NonCommercial](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/). Alligators are native to the southeastern United States and to northeastern Mexico. They live in freshwater wetlands such as marshes and swamps. Apart from this species there is only one other extant Alligator: the Chinese alligator (Alligator sinensis). The original and more information can be found at [sketchfab / NHMWien](https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/american-alligator-nhmw-zoo1-hs-15682-998086fa2efc4476917191afc8e60c93), the following changes were made: * Geometry decimated from ~ 250k triangles to ~ 90k * downsized to 50% of the original size * object aligned * STL file without errors **Attention:** The lower part of the animal (feet, belly, etc.) remained unchanged. It is therefore not smooth and can lead to problems with print adhesion. If you want to print the animal exactly like this, it is recommended to set the Z-axis in the slicer to +0.5 mm (for example) to have support material on the base (in Cura you have to disable the "Automatically drop models to build plate" option).
