Ambrogio Amico Dog / Cat* Collar clip
thingiverse
I don't own a cat and believe they're too intelligent to get caught out, but it's possible. My dog loves lying in the garden soaking up the sun (when it shines) and is so accustomed to robots in the house that I worry the lawn mower might harm her. Ambrogio created a pet-protecting tag with a collar attachment that lasted about two hours before she tore it off while rushing around. Since the Amico's aren't cheap, I decided to create a more robust collar cover for it. It comes in two parts: the clip, which fits her collar and is 20mm wide and 4mm thick, contains the Amico and has a lid to hold it in place (although it fits quite snugly). The first two versions of the lid clipped onto the case but after chasing the dummy through bushes etc., it soon came off. This version comes with spaces for 2 x M3 x 4mm (d) x 5mm (w) heat-serts for the case - these need to be positioned carefully so as not to go all the way through - and the lid is held on with 2 x M3 x 4mm countersunk screws. Orientation: Case - I printed the base against the print bed so it was standing up. It worked well without supports, but the clip isn't completely smooth at the bottom curve, so it might be worth adding supports here. Lid - I printed upside down with 'tree supports' in Cura to give good quality screw holes, although they're not needed.
