Amazonian Flying Spider Lemur
sketchfab
In the heart of an unforgiving jungle on a hidden atoll, a lemur thrives that has never set foot on solid ground. It leaps from tree to tree, relying on its eight agile hands to grasp the slick wet limbs with precision. When the trees are too far apart, like a chasm across a river, it soars - unfurling a skin membrane between its arms to allow it to glide effortlessly through the air. It feeds on small larvae that burrow into tree trunks, excavating them out of the wood with long, razor-sharp fingers. As an occasional treat, it'll snatch fledgling birds that have yet to take flight, using its sharp teeth to steal them quietly before the mother's watchful eyes detect the threat. Large ears grant it acute hearing, essential in the dim canopy, especially when everything is moving too fast for a clear focus on one spot. Its fur pattern is fairly typical, featuring cream-colored counter-shading with a mottled brown-grey back, accompanied by a bushy flat tail and ear tufts that add to its unique appearance.
