Amazon Echo Dot Over-Bed Hanging Gimballed Mount
pinshape
I have an Echo Dot in my bedroom, but its standard orientation makes it tricky to hear requests clearly. To solve this issue, I've installed a device that suspends the Dot upside down above my bed, allowing me to speak freely without any interruptions. This device features a built-in cable channel and can be securely attached to the wall using a pair of 20mm wide removable double-sided pads. It consists of two printable parts: the wall-mounted yoke and the gimbal clip, which snap together easily and firmly, yet still allow for smooth rotation if the wall is not perfectly vertical. To assemble the device, I first insert the Dot into the gimbal, where a small lip around the bottom edge holds it in place without obstructing the light ring. Although it's a tight fit, the Dot can be coaxed into position with a little effort. Once secured in the gimbal, I attach the assembly to the yoke and gently turn it to confirm that everything is properly aligned. For printing these components, PLA material works just fine. The Yoke prints best with its flat side facing downwards, requiring no support. Similarly, the Gimbal prints smoothly when oriented with its base facing downwards, also needing no additional support. To achieve a smooth finish, I make sure to print without any brim.
