Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) Wall socket mount - v3
thingiverse
This is a brand-new and enhanced version of my previous Echo Dot wall-socket mount. The original design remains available at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3273420, in case anyone prefers to use that one still. This updated design should be an even better fit than the looser original model, but it is still easy to adapt to the power-supply, unlike the original. It should be a solid friction fit if printed with a semi-tuned printer. To make it more accommodating, there are slits in the grips for the power supply. Cable management has also become significantly easier, with the cable wrapping around the powersupply holder, allowing this mount to consist of just 2 pieces instead of the previous 3. This change also makes it shallower front-to-back, so it protrudes less from the wall. Installation/Assembly: 1. Feed the power supply connector through the hole in the bottom of the case from the rear and pull the cable through. 2. Insert the power supply from the bottom of the case with the power pins facing towards you. Push the power-supply until it is flush with the case. (If you push it a little too far then you can push it back a little from the other side) 3. Wrap the cable around the power supply, gently pushing it down into the slot without using anything sharp as shown in the photos. 4. Connect the power connector to your Echo Dot and insert the Echo Dot with a short amount of cable remaining. 5. Make sure all cable is clear of the top few millimeters of the case and push the lid into place. It should be a tight friction fit (no more fragile clips) 6. Plug your Echo, complete with wall mount, into a wall-socket of your choice! Look at the photos for extra clarity on install steps. Note that this design has one downside - even when installed in the lower outlet, it will partially block the upper outlet in a standard US duplex wall outlet. You can still likely connect a 2-prong plug there but I prefer to just plug it in the top socket for extra stability anyway). I suspect the same is true for other international socket types with double outlets, but I am not sure since the spacing between outlets varies between different styles in different countries. I hope you find this new and improved version of this Echo Dot wall-socket mount useful. P.S. If anyone still has real issues with fit due to a poorly calibrated printer, then I can try to make an adjustment to help but I would ask that you try to tune your printer to be dimensionally accurate first. (It WILL be a good friction-fit if your printer is reasonably accurate)
