Amaravati Guardian Lion

A majestic lion carved in limestone, known as 'Palnad marble', proudly stands mounted originally on a vedika railing at one of the entrances to the pradakshinapatha path. This ancient sculpture was likely the inspiration for the illustration featured opposite page 166 in "Indian Fairy Tales", a collection edited by Joseph Jacobs with illustrations by John D Batten, and published by David Nutt in 1892. This remarkable object is part of "Scan The World", a groundbreaking initiative launched by MyMiniFactory to create a comprehensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe. Through this non-profit endeavor, anyone can access these incredible treasures for free. Scan The World is an open-source community project that encourages contributions from individuals worldwide; if you have fascinating items nearby and wish to contribute, simply email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can participate and make a difference.
