AM8 Z Motor Mount and Top Mounts with Bearings On Both Ends!
thingiverse
I'm making significant progress in completely redesigning the AM8 now. This is a new set of upper and lower Z mounts designed specifically for the AM8. It uses the original rods, screws, steppers, and couplers but mounts them securely in sturdy holders with bearings at both ends. This design utilizes high-quality 608RS type skate bearings. Optionally, you can use 8mm locking collars and included spacers to lock the shaft at the top bearing for added stability. To assemble this component, print it with support as the parts lay flat. The Z rods are securely held in place. Next, install the Z Lead Screws and Couplers on motors, then insert them into motor mounts and attach. Finally, slide the upper parts down over the rods. The design includes upper bearing retention caps and rod retention caps that can be attached using M3 self-threading screws or any other suitable M3 screw. I use M5 x 10 screws and T nuts for my AM8, so these components will definitely fit.
