This experimental part requires adjusting the bed and linear bearing to avoid contact with the aluminum frame. Raising them involves a trade-off: losing approximately 5-6mm of Z height due to the added component. You'll need M5x16 screws, similar to those used in the AM8 mod. As I'm currently converting my setup, this was a pressing concern for me. After further investigation, I found that the original Y guide rods measure 380mm in total. The AM8 mod achieves this length by combining 340mm extrusions with two additional 313mm extrusions (each 20mm thick), resulting in a combined length of 340mm + 40mm. The issue lies in the thickness difference between the extrusions and the A8 acrylic: 20mm each versus 8mm. This discrepancy affects the maximum distance between the front and back, which is 364mm on the A8 (380mm minus two times 8mm). Using 340mm extrusions would result in a loss of 24mm of Z distance, while using 364mm extrusions maintains the original print distance but requires adjustment.
