AM8 Underbed Cable Chain
prusaprinters

I started out wanting to use the right-side chain at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2745156, but there were several points of interference between it and my AM8 build (might've been a function of the right-angle brackets included with the kit I purchased). I tried tweaking the end pieces a bit before deciding to roll my own from scratch, bringing the bed cables out underneath the bed instead of next to it. As a bonus, the frame-mounted end of the chain provides a channel big enough to also carry the right-side Z-axis motor wiring to the left side of the frame. (On this path, the stock wiring needs to be neither cut nor extended.)

Print Settings

Printer:

AM8

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2 mm

Infill:

20%

Filament:
eSun PETG
solid purple

Notes:

For stock dimensions, 16 chain links is enough.
The frame mount prints in two pieces. The left end of the right piece slips into the right end of the left piece. Bolt them in with M5x8 screws and hammer nuts, then use a small ziptie to hold the two pieces together where they meet.
To attach the bed mount, replace the three M4x10 screws that hold the cross-piece and right side of the bed frame together with M4x16 screws; they should stick up from the top a bit. Place the bed mount over the screw ends and secure with M4 nuts (and maybe some threadlock).

Category: 3D Printer Accessories
