alzheimer's (dementia) bird feeder
pinshape
One year ago, my father passed away from Alzheimer's disease, but there was one thing he always enjoyed doing - watching the birds. I decided to create a bird feeder that others could use as well. So, I designed and printed out two bird feeders - one for myself and another to take to a care home or nursing facility. I'm not the most skilled designer or artist, but this bird feeder is functional and easy to print. To get the best results, I recommend printing at a layer height of 0.3 mm with an infill of 20%. It took about five hours to complete, but a lower layer height will yield a smoother finish. To assemble the bird feeder, simply fill it from the bottom and attach the cap. Flip it over quickly to prevent any spills. There's also a base that can be screwed onto the bottom, allowing you to place the feeder on a table or floor. If everyone printed out one of these bird feeders and took them to a care home, I'm sure it would bring joy to those living with Alzheimer's disease. It would also demonstrate the potential of 3D printing to make a positive impact in people's lives.
